Job summary

SMEC Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Coastal Engineer to contribute to planning and design for civil projects, including land reclamation and port construction. You will support the design team, plan site investigations, and prepare calculations, drawings and specifications for coastal structures.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree, have strong English communication, and can work independently within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering recognised by regulatory bodies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Team player and able to multi-task.
• Discipline, self-motivated and resourceful.
• Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Proficiency in engineering software such as Plaxis, Geostudio, StaadPro, Prokon will be advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in design of reclamation projects is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning & design works for coastal engineering projects (land reclamation, port construction, coastal structures).
• Assist Engineer/Design Manager with site investigation planning and interpretation.
• Design and analysis for coastal structures (quay walls, ports, jetties, revetments, land reclamation).
• Prepare technical calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Manage subcontracts (soil investigation, Accredited Checker, biodiversity).
• Supervise both design and site work, ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Support tender submissions and project pursuit.
