The GMP Group in Malaysia seeks a senior leader to drive product strategy and portfolio management across the vehicle lifecycle. You will align with business objectives, shape model roadmaps, and steer pricing, volume and profitability in a competitive market.
You will negotiate with OEMs, define product specifications, and translate market insights into actionable portfolio plans. Strong leadership and strategic thinking are essential to improve differentiation and revenue.
To lead product strategy and portfolio management to maximise market competitiveness, customer relevance, sales volume and profitability across the entire vehicle lifecycle.
Accountable for integrating market and customer insights, product specifications, pricing, volume, profitability and lifecycle strategy, while leading strategic coordination and negotiation with OEM and cross-functional alignment across to ensure the product portfolio delivers sustainable business growth.
Job Responsibilities:
Establish and lead company’s overall product strategy and portfolio direction in alignment with company business objectives.
Define product positioning, target customers, product priorities and portfolio roadmap for new models, facelifts, model changes and special editions.
Identify portfolio gaps and future business opportunities.
Commercial Strategy: Price, Volume & Profitability
Own the integrated management of price, volume and profit for the product portfolio.
Establish commercial assumptions and business cases for new and existing models.
Lead pricing strategy and volume planning while balancing market competitiveness, customer value and gross profit objectives.
Product Specification & Value Proposition
Lead negotiations and strategic discussions with OEM to secure specifications, features, product configurations and commercial conditions that meet Malaysian market requirements.
Challenge and influence manufacturer proposals where necessary to improve company’s competitive position and customer value.
Establish a forward-looking understanding of Malaysian automotive market trends, customer behaviour, competitor strategies, product movements, pricing and emerging technologies. Translate insights into actionable portfolio and product strategies.
Product Lifecycle & Launch Governance
Provide overall governance for the product lifecycle from initial concept and business case through launch, post-launch monitoring, facelift and eventual replacement/discontinuation.
Establish PDCA mechanisms and ensure corrective actions are implemented based on market and business performance.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
Establish governance, processes and performance management mechanisms for product planning.
Drive continuous improvement in forecasting, business case development, product evaluation, decision-making and cross-functional execution.
To lead accessories business strategy and portfolio to maximise customer value, accessories revenue and profitability, while strengthening vehicle differentiation and overall product competitiveness in the Malaysian market.
Accessories Business Strategy
Establish overall accessories strategy and business direction in alignment with the vehicle portfolio, customer needs and company commercial objectives. Identify growth opportunities and establish long‑term accessories portfolio and revenue strategies.
Lead the development and management of the accessories portfolio, including model‑specific accessories, lifestyle accessories, packages, special editions and new business concepts.
Ensure products provide meaningful customer value and strengthen vehicle positioning.
Own accessories commercial performance including revenue, gross profit, margin and penetration.
Establish pricing and margin strategies and identify opportunities to improve profitability and portfolio productivity.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
Establish sourcing strategies and lead strategic negotiations with accessories suppliers and manufacturers.
Ensure competitive cost, quality, supply capability, commercial terms and long‑term supplier competitiveness.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with qualifications preference in Business, Marketing, Engineering or related disciplines.
Minimum 10 years’ working experience in automotive industry.
Preferably with experience in Product Planning and Accessories Development. Candidates with backgrounds in Sales Planning, Sales Operations, or Market Intelligence within the automotive industry are also welcome.
Strong business acumen and judgement to manage the interrelationship between business 4Ps and profitability.
Proven leadership skills with analytical mindset to lead functional teams towards business alignment
Persuasive negotiation skills and communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders and business partners
Results‑oriented with strong sense of urgency and accountability.
