Qualifications

• 5–8 years hands-on plant operations experience, preferably in heavy industry, palm oil, or biomass.
• Familiarity with Pasir Gudang area and local regulatory bodies (DOSH/DOE) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily plant operations, focusing on boiler efficiency and consistent steam output.
• Ensure high plant uptime to meet industrial client supply agreements.

About Us

Our company operates an industrial steam boiler in the Pasir Gudang industrial corridor, supplying steam to neighboring palm oil refineries. We are currently undergoing an expansion project to triple (3x) our existing capacity. We are seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations and manage this growth phase. Role Overview The General Manager will oversee the daily operations of the biomass steam plant, ensuring efficient fuel sourcing, reliable steam supply to clients, and the successful execution of the capacity expansion.

Key Responsibilities

A. Plant Operations & Reliability

• Oversee daily plant operations, focusing on boiler efficiency and consistent steam output.
• Ensure high plant uptime to meet industrial client supply agreements.
• Ensure full compliance with environmental, safety, and site regulations (DOE, DOSH).
• Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Manage the plant's Profit & Loss (P&L), monitor margins, and oversee operational cash flow.
• Prepare budgets, monitor fuel inventory costs, and track the financial performance of the expansion project.
• Balance operational expenditures with fuel costs to maintain plant profitability.

C. Fuel Supply & Inventory

• Source biomass fuel efficiently and negotiate with suppliers.
• Maintain appropriate fuel stock levels to ensure uninterrupted operations without over-committing working capital.
• Develop contingency plans for seasonal supply changes or market disruptions.

D. Expansion Project Management

• Lead the 3x capacity expansion on the ground.
• Coordinate with EPCC contractors, local councils, and regulatory bodies for approvals and compliance.
• Monitor project timelines, contractor performance, and manage expansion costs.

E. Client & Commercial Management

• Manage relationships with neighboring palm oil refineries and other industrial clients.
• Oversee medium to long-term steam supply agreements.
• Communicate operational updates and manage disruptions professionally with clients.
• Lead and manage the operations team on site.
• Train and develop plant operators and supervisory staff.

Candidate Profile

1. Competence & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in plant operations (boiler operations, heavy industry, palm oil, or biomass preferred). Prior experience managing plant budgets or P&L is advantageous.
• Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Pasir Gudang industrial area and local regulatory bodies (DOSH/DOE) is preferred.
