Job summary

Soon Soon Oilmills Sdn. Bhd. is seeking aMechanical Engineer/Boiler Maintenance lead to oversee steam boiler operations, preventive maintenance, and plant equipment upkeep.

The role includes supervising maintenance tasks, sourcing parts, and ensuring compliance with safety and DOSH/JKKP regulations. The candidate should have a mechanical engineering degree and proven experience with steam boiler systems, regulatory knowledge, and strong problem-solving skills to minimize downtime and ensure safe

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.
• Experience operating steam boiler systems, with supervisory or plant maintenance exposure preferred.
• Familiarity with the Factory and Machinery Act 1967 and DOSH/JKKP regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain steam boilers to ensure safe, efficient performance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on boilers, air compressors, water chillers and cooling towers.
• Oversee procurement of tools, spare parts and equipment for maintenance.
• Provide engineering support and troubleshooting for plant operations.
• Ensure safety compliance and adherence to DOSH/JKKP audit requirements and company policies.

Job description

To be in charge of steam boilers, ensuring efficient, safe operation and effective preventive maintenance of boilers.

To maintain the boiler, Air Compressor , Water Chiller & Cooling Tower

Maintain and operate all plant equipment in good and safe operating condition.

Responsible for comparing and purchasing tools, spare parts, and other equipment needed.

To be in charge of mechanical repairs and maintenance of plants and machine reliability and minimum downtimes.

Responsible for the facility equipment/systems/activities related to steam and gas.

Ensure overall safety of the boiler and boilerman.

Ensure legal compliance on steam facilities and activities in line with DOSH (JKKP) and audit requirements.

Able to troubleshoot and provide engineering support and solutions on operations and preventive maintenance for steam-related facilities.

Knowledge of workplace safety, health, and environmental regulations.

To perform any other task assigned by a superior.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering field.

Practical experience operating steam boiler systems, ideally with some background in a supervisory or plant maintenance capacity.

Familiarity with the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 and relevant DOSH/JKKP regulations. [1, 2, 3, 4]
