Functional / Process Engineer (Water Treatment Industry)

Our clientOrgano (Asia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Functional Engineer to join their team!

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with a background in industrial water or wastewater treatment to take on a technically rich and client-facing role. You will be involved in developing technical proposals, performing process design calculations, and providing hand-on support throughout project implementation - all while collaborating closely with Sales and Engineering teams. What you'll be doing?

• Technical Proposal Development - Study and review customer inquiries and specifications to develop well-considered, feasible technical proposal solutions that meet client needs.
• Site Surveys & Client Engagement - Conduct site surveys to gather detailed information in support of accurate and informed proposals, and prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
• Process Design & Documentation - Develop process design calculations, flow diagrams, layouts, technical specifications, project schedules, and all related proposal documentation in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
• Cost Estimation & Quotations - Perform cost estimations and prepare competitive, accurate quotations for customers to support the sales and business development process.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with the Sales and Engineering teams to ensure all proposed solutions are technically feasible and aligned with project requirements.
• Project Budget & Control - Prepare budget control sheets and system control philosophies for awarded projects to support smooth project kick-off and financial governance.
• Technical Support During Implementation - Provide ongoing technical support and clarification to the project team throughout the implementation stage, ensuring design intent is carried through to delivery.

Who are they looking for?

• Educational Background - A Bachelor's degree or Professional Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent discipline is required.
• Relevant Experience - A minimum of 3 to 4 years of working experience in industrial water or wastewater treatment projects is essential for this position.
• Project & Process Design Experience - Candidates with experience in project handling and system process design will be strongly preferred and will have a distinct advantage.
• AutoCAD Proficiency - Hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD is compulsory, alongside working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
• Language Proficiency - Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English is required for effective day-to-day communication; proficiency in Chinese is an advantage that supports engagement with Chinese-speaking clients or partners, while Japanese language skills are a further added advantage for working with Japanese stakeholders.
• Mobility & Site Readiness - Possession of a valid driving licence and own transport is required, as moderate travel to sites and client meetings is a regular part of this role.
