Job summary

Bakun Floating Solar Sdn. Bhd. in Kuching, Sarawak, seeks an experienced Finance & Tax Specialist for full-time engagement. The role ensures financial compliance, tax planning, and project support as the company grows its floating solar operations in Malaysia.

The ideal candidate holds a finance/Tax degree with 5+ years local tax experience, knowledge of Sarawak policies, and fluency in Chinese and English. CTIM/MICPA/ACCA credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in finance, accounting, taxation or related majors.
• 5+ years local financial and tax work experience in Malaysia.
• Familiar with Sarawak state local taxation and reduction/exemption policies.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily tax affairs of the company, including corporate tax, social security, provident fund and employee payroll taxes.
• Liaise with the Sarawak tax authority and company secretary to complete annual compliance review and filing.
• Ensure implementation of tax incentive policies and apply for tax reductions/exemptions.
• Support financing and insurance work during project development to ensure full-cycle financial and tax compliance and optimization of the project.
• Other related work.

About the role We are seeking an experienced Finance & Tax Specialist to join our team in Kuching, Sarawak. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in safeguarding the company’s financial compliance and supporting project development. As Finance & Tax Specialist, you will oversee local taxation, annual filing, tax incentive application and project financial support, directly supporting our business objectives and ensuring robust financial governance. This role is essential to our continued growth and success as we expand our floating solar operations in the renewable energy sector.

Key responsibilities

Handle the daily tax affairs of Bakun Company, including tax filing (corporate tax, and social security, provident fund and individual income tax related to employee payroll, etc.);

Liaise with the Sarawak tax authority and the company secretary to complete compliance annual review and filing;

Ensure the implementation of tax incentive policies and apply for tax reduction/exemption qualifications;

Support financing and insurance work during the project development stage to ensure full-cycle financial and tax compliance and optimization of the project;

Other related work.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree or above in finance, accounting, taxation or related majors;

5+ years of local financial and tax work experience in Malaysia;

Familiar with foreign-invested SPV, Malaysian and Sarawak state local taxation and reduction/exemption policies;

Fluent in Chinese and English, able to work in Kuching on a long-term basis;

Certificates such as CTIM, MICPA or ACCA are preferred.
