Chereh Solar Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Finance Manager to lead financial strategy for the Chereh project, ensuring compliant planning, budgeting and reporting.

JOB PURPOSE : To provide direction and management for the Chereh project from a financial management perspective, developing and overseeing the implementation of plans and financial models to meet the long and short term financial requirements in an optimal economic manner and in line with sound financial, accounting and risk management practices thus ensuring optimization of asset value and return to shareholders.
Initiate and direct the formulation and implementation of financial policies and accounting procedures in consultation with the Senior management.
Develop/amend, in consultation with the Senior management, and obtain approval on corporate policies and procedures governing collections, receipts, custody, control and disbursement of funds and securities, choice and use of depositories and extension of credit and ensure implementation of and compliance with such corporate policies and procedures.
Initiate, direct and monitor the development of appropriate systems and procedures to ensure provision of required financial information to the Board and senior management.
Monitor internal compliance with the financial policies and accounting procedures.
Ensure ongoing reporting to the Board on compliance to all relevant policies and procedures.
Provide financial and accounting control, ensuring the integrity of internal control and accounting information in compliance with IFRS and maintaining the integrity of the GL, payables, receivables, bank reconciliations and Oracle data and information.
Monitor and report to the Board on risk management activities including administration of insurance policies.
Recommend and obtain approval on the amendment of risk management policies and Procedures
Contribute to and provide context/reconciliation of matters for the tax returns. Review of final submitted taxation filling and ensure reconciliations are made to that provided in the accounts.
Review VAT returns being submitted to ensure filing is done by the deadlines and in line with regulations
Review and monitor the effectiveness and objectivity of the auditor(s), taking into consideration relevant local and internationally recognized professional and regulatory requirements.
Monitor the preparation, review and submission of the proposed annual budget, in consultation with the Senior management, and manage the preparation of appropriate management information reports related to performance, compliance, issues and actions relating to tax, insurance, budget, internal control and risk management and present such management information reports to the Board.
Conduct on-going reviews on the financial performance of various departments/sections and investigate and report the deviations from the stated budgets and operational plans.
Assist the process of approval of the O&M budget for the operating asset by analysing and commenting on the key drivers
Provide guidance and ensure that all relevant project reports are completed in a comprehensive, accurate and timely manner, and comply with international principles of corporate governance and standards, and shareholder requirements.
Ensure a regular and ad-hoc management reports are produced periodically for internal and corporate requirements.
Provide required financial analysis and deliver assistance in the process of evaluations of exit options.
Review the FM and relevant documents available in data room and provide input to the team handling the investment appraisal.
Manage staff and teams by overseeing their performance management, recruitment, training and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence and motivated work environment.
Direct and ensure appropriate succession plans are in place for key positions within the team.
Contribute to the management of change through own team by providing inputs for and partaking in change initiatives, programs and projects taking into account international leading practices, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans
As and when required, ensure that relationships with service level providers are managed smoothly and effectively.
Develop and maintain a strong and effective relationships with all relevant stakeholders in order to ensure that interests are safeguarded whilst also delivering on overall plans.
As and when required by the management, represent the project in local and international platforms.
Adhere to any applicable Masdar information security policies and procedures and identify and report security incidents and suspected weaknesses to the appropriate point(s) of contact.
Protect assets under care (e.g. laptops and other devices) and information/credentials against unauthorized access, sharing, and/or damage/loss, in accordance with the Information Classification and Handling Procedure.
Clear desks of all sensitive material and log off/ lock workstations at the end of the day and when leaving desk for a prolonged period in accordance with Acceptable Usage Policies.
Ensure not installing, copying or modifying of any software on Masdar equipment without authorization
Support Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives of Masdar and compliance with the laws and regulations of the country where the projects are located.
This includes participating (when requested) in QHSE audits, office inductions, incident reporting and review of QHSE performances as applicable
Bachelor’s degree in business/finance or any other relevant field
Master’s degree would be an asset
Chartered Accountant with relevant experience required
At least 10 years of relevant and solid experience in project finance and financial modelling & analysis including experience in investment appraisals, feasibility studies and due diligence assignments in a relevant or related sector
Energy sector experience preferred
Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of tools and systems used in asset management
Good understanding of relevant rules and regulations
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple on-going projects
Ability to identify key value drivers and risks
Familiarity with VAT regulations in general and the local regulations
Knowledge of management software like Oracle
