AmBank is seeking an Assistant Manager Finance Project Control in Kuala Lumpur to oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking across project lifecycles. This role involves managing project finances across the full lifecycle, including budgeting, cost tracking, financial forecasting, and variance analysis. You will provide financial advisory support to project teams and business stakeholders, monitor post-implementation financial performance, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and governance requirements.
Key responsibilities
Manage project budgets, cost tracking, financial forecasts, and variance analysis to identify risks and mitigate potential cost overruns
Monitor and report on post-implementation financial performance and benefits realization against approved business cases
Coordinate project capitalization, depreciation assessments, and accounting treatments in compliance with applicable accounting standards and Group policies
Provide financial advisory support to project teams and business stakeholders to facilitate effective planning, execution, and decision-making
Support the end-to-end financial planning process, including annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, and long-term financial projections for the project portfolio
Ensure compliance with financial policies, governance requirements, regulatory obligations, and internal control standards
Review and support the preparation of business cases, investment evaluations, and project funding approval requests
Manage project-related service transfer pricing (STP) allocations and perform analysis on technology cost recoveries charged to business units
Prepare management reports and presentations to support project governance committees and senior management decision-making
Collaborate with Finance, Technology, Project Management, Procurement, and business stakeholders to ensure financial transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Project Finance, Project Controlling, Management Accounting, or related finance functions
Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost management, variance analysis, financial modelling, and management reporting
Strong stakeholder management and business partnering capabilities, with the ability to communicate financial insights effectively to both finance and non-finance audiences
Good understanding of financial governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial reporting tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset
