Job summary

SONY (MALAYSIA) SDN BHD in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a proactive Finance & Accounting Executive to support closing, management reporting, account reconciliation, e-Invoice administration, audit and tax compliance within a dynamic corporate environment.

Fresh graduates or early-career candidates will gain broad exposure to finance and accounting operations, including process improvements, in a multinational setting with potential career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accountancy required.
• Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years' experience.
• Knowledge of IFRS and MPERS and financial reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; good analytical and communication skills.
• Pursuing professional qualifications (e.g., MIA, ACCA, CIMA) is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end closing for accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare schedules, journal entries, accruals, and supporting docs.
• Assist in monthly management reports and financial analyses.
• Perform reconciliations of balance sheets and general ledger.
• Support e-Invoice administration and tax compliance tasks.
• Contribute to process improvements and internal controls.

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Executive to support financial closing, management reporting, account reconciliation, e-Invoice administration, audit and tax compliance, and finance improvement initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates or early-career candidates to gain broad exposure to finance and accounting operations in a dynamic corporate environment.

Job responsibilities:

Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare accounting schedules, journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation.

Assist in the preparation and submission of monthly management reports and financial analysis.

Support variance analysis and reporting requirements from regional accounting, and planning and control team.

Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies, aging items, and outstanding balances.

Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and supported by appropriate documentation.

Assist in strengthening internal controls and maintaining compliance with company policies.

Support the administration of Malaysia's E-Invoicing requirements.

Perform e-Invoice and self-billed e-Invoice processing and reconciliation against accounting records.

Maintain e-invoice master data and support validation of transaction records.

Liaise with internal stakeholders and service providers to resolve e-Invoice-related issues.

Audit & Tax Support

Support annual statutory audit activities by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and audit evidence.

Assist in corporate tax compliance, tax filings, and information requests from tax advisors.

Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and internal stakeholders as required.

Process Improvement & Projects

Participate in finance transformation, system enhancement, automation, and process improvement initiatives.

Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and finance-related projects when required.

Support the team in identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting activities

Other Responsibilities

Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting records.

Support ad hoc finance, accounting, and compliance assignments.

Undertake any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

Job Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy.

Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS & MPERS) and financial reporting.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Good analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and a team player.

Pursuing professional qualifications (e.g., MIA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
