Job summary

Siemens in Malaysia is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems. You will collaborate with customers, project teams and technical specialists to deliver reliable service solutions while upholding safety and quality.

The role requires 2–5 years experience with switchgear and Siemens products, willingness to travel across Malaysia, and a diploma or degree in electrical engineering.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong technical foundation in electrical power systems.
• 2-5 years of experience in switchgear testing, commissioning, field service, or related technical service environments, with exposure to medium-voltage and low-voltage systems.
• Experience with Siemens products such as 8DA10, NXAIR, NXPLUS C, 8DJH RMU, SIVACON S8; exposure to ABB/Schneider Electric is a plus.
• Knowledge of Protection & Automation systems, IEC 61850 protocols.

Responsibilities

• Testing, commissioning & maintenance of switchgear systems.
• Provide technical support for site installation and service delivery.
• Diagnosis and rectification of faults at customer sites.
• Prepare service reports and commissioning records.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will play an important role in supporting customers through the testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems. You will work closely with customers, project teams, and technical specialists to deliver reliable service solutions while ensuring safety, quality, and operational excellence.

You'll create impact by:

• Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance: Perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities for Siemens medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear systems.
• Technical Support & Service Delivery: Support site installation, supervision, and customer service activities to ensure successful project execution and system performance.
• Fault Investigation & Problem Resolution: Carry out fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and rectification activities at customer sites to minimize downtime and optimize system reliability.
• Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare service reports, commissioning records, and relevant technical documentation in accordance with project and business requirements.
• Product & System Support: Provide technical support for a range of electrical distribution solutions, including: 8DA10 GIS, NXAIR, NXPLUS C, 8DJH RMU, SIVACON S8.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with Siemens and customer safety standards, quality requirements, and industry regulations.

Your Defining Qualities:

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a strong technical foundation in electrical power systems.
• 2-5 years of experience in switchgear testing, commissioning, field service, or related technical service environments, with exposure to medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Experience with switchgear technologies, preferably including Siemens products such as 8DA10, NXAIR, NXPLUS C, 8DJH RMU, and SIVACON S8. Exposure to ABB, Schneider Electric, or similar technologies would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Protection & Automation systems, preferably with exposure to SIPROTEC 5, Reyrolle 5, SICAM A8000, and IEC 61850 communication protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, with hands-on experience in fault diagnosis, testing, commissioning, and rectification activities in site-based environments.
• Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset, able to work independently in a dynamic field-service environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service.
• Willingness to travel and support customer sites across Malaysia, with a valid driving license. Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, CIDB, or equivalent) and Siemens product training or certifications would be an added advantage.
