Job summary

Siemens Energy Malaysia seeks a Field Service Engineer to deliver on-site support for high voltage transmission equipment within Grid Technologies. You will supervise installations, perform commissioning, maintenance, and repairs, and mentor junior engineers.

You will work with local and regional teams, communicate in English and Mandarin, travel regionally, and uphold quality and HSE standards while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Electrical degree or equivalent with 4+ years in field service engineering in HV transmission.
• Hands-on installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair experience.
• Knowledge of HV equipment: transformers, AIS & GIS, breakers and control systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment used in HV transmission.
• Strong problem-solving and independent work in demanding field environments.
• Excellent communication across organizational levels; willingness to travel locally and regionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide field advice and supervision for HV installations, commissioning, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose HV equipment; support customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Sales/PM; feedback product improvements.
• Maintain service reports, logs, and device records.
• Represent Siemens Energy on site; coordinate scope and sign-off; mentor juniors.
• Deliver work in line with quality and HSE standards.

A Snapshot of Your Day

The Field Service Engineer reports to the Head of Operations within Grid Technologies and works closely with Local, Regional, and Global teams to support field service delivery.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Provide technical field advice and supervision, and perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades, refurbishment, and repair of high voltage transmission equipment and systems, including substation commissioning.
• Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics on high voltage transmission equipment, and provide technical support and expertise to customers, field service engineers, and other internal stakeholders (including offer and project management teams).
• Collaborate with Engineering and Sales & PM teams, sharing feedback and recommendations for product improvements and modifications.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of field service activities, including service reports, timesheets, maintenance logs, method statements, HSE reports, and equipment records.
• Represent Siemens Energy on site - coordinating job scope, giving final approval and sign-off for completed works, and training and mentoring junior field service engineers and customers on routine maintenance.
• Support customer satisfaction by delivering service work in line with customer expectations, while applying Quality and HSE protocols and regulations throughout.

What You Bring

• Electrical Degree or equivalent, with more than 4 years' working experience in field service engineering within the high voltage transmission industry, including hands-on experience with new installations and service.
• In-depth knowledge of high voltage transmission equipment, such as transformers, AIS & GIS switchgear, circuit breakers, and related control systems.
• Proficiency in diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and software (including remote headset technology) used in the high voltage transmission industry.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently in demanding field environments, adapt to unpredictable situations, and improvise as needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across organizational levels, and a positive attitude toward working in a challenging, diverse, and high-performance culture.
• Professional proficiency in English and Mandarin required, with additional Asian languages an advantage; willingness to travel locally and regionally and work flexible hours as needed.
