Our company is located in Johor Bahru , but we are hiring a field service engineer who can travel between Kuala Lumpur and Johor. Most of our projects are in Kuala Lumpur. This role is to provide on-site installation support, commissioning, troubleshooting, and after-sales technical services for low voltage (LV) distribution cabinets. The role ensures safe and reliable equipment operation while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site installation guidance, power-on commissioning, and functional verification for LV Switchgear.
- Verify primary and secondary wiring drawing, confirm correct terminations, and identify/resolve electrical faults during the commissioning process.
- Collaborate with customers to complete system integration testing and ensure equipment is put into operation in compliance with technical specifications.
2.2 Fault Diagnosis & Emergency Response
- Respond to customer service requests promptly, travel to site within the required timeframe, and perform rapid fault diagnosis with effective resolution plans.
- Handle common faults including but not limited to circuit breaker tripping, contactor malfunction, smart meter communication interruptions, and busbar overheating.
- Escalate complex or critical issues to the engineering team and coordinate cross-functional support as needed.
2.3 Customer Training & Technical Guidance
- Deliver on-site training to customer maintenance personnel on equipment operation, routine inspection procedures, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Guide customers on proper LV cabinet usage and standardized switching procedures to minimize operational errors.
2.4 After-sales Technical Support & Communication
- Serve as the primary technical interface between the company and customers, responding to inquiries in a timely manner and maintaining thorough issue logs with full traceability.
- Conduct regular follow-up visits after issue resolution, gather customer feedback, and contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives.
2.5 Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive field service reports, fault analysis reports, and equipment commissioning records to ensure full service traceability.
- Compile case studies from common service scenarios to support team knowledge sharing and training programs.
2.6 Safety & Compliance
- Strictly adhere to on-site safety protocols and electrical safety practices at all times to protect personnel and equipment.
- Comply with all customer site access requirements and local safety regulations.
3. Qualifications & Requirements
3.1 Education
- Diploma degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Power Systems, or a related field.
3.2 Work Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in LV distribution cabinet installation, commissioning, field service, or after-sales technical support.
- Prior experience serving large industrial plants, data centers, or infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
3.2 Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of LV power distribution systems; ability to read and interpret primary/secondary schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Familiarity with common LV components, including molded case circuit breakers, air circuit breakers, contactors, thermal overload relays, and smart metering devices - including parameter configuration and fault diagnosis.
- Proficient in using common testing instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation resistance testers (meggers).
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus/Profibus for smart meter integration is a plus.
3.3 Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving ability in field environments, with the capacity to work under pressure.
- Excellent customer communication skills and a service-oriented mindset, with patience to address customer concerns clearly and professionally.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently and respond to urgent on-site requests on short notice.
