Job summary

GAC Motor by WTCA in Malaysia is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Parts Localisation Senior Engineer / Engineer to oversee localisation projects from feasibility study through to local part adoption. You will work with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and the principal to ensure activities meet technical specs, quality standards, cost targets, and project timelines.

You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to manage development activities and ensure adherence to engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Fresh graduates with relevant background encouraged to apply for the Engineer position.
• Experience in automotive parts development, localisation, or supplier quality is advantageous.
• Strong project coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for local parts localisation from technical, supplier capability, and project planning perspectives.
• Identify and develop local suppliers to support new model localisation programmes.
• Manage and strengthen supplier relationships while improving supplier quality performance in accordance with principal requirements.
• Coordinate and monitor parts development activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications during Engineering Trial, Production Trial, and Mass Production.
• Resolve quality-related issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
• Perform supplier risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
• Coordinate Engineering Change Notice (ECN) implementation with internal departments, suppliers, and the principal.
• Drive VA/VE and cost reduction initiatives in collaboration with suppliers and the Parts Costing team.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in automotive parts development, localisation, supplier quality, manufacturing, or related engineering functions is an advantage.
• Fresh graduates with relevant academic background are encouraged to apply for the Engineer position.
