MyDIGITAL Corporation in Putrajaya is seeking an Executive Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal advice and support across programmes, partnerships and activities. This role involves drafting and reviewing agreements, ensuring compliance with legal/regulatory requirements, protecting intellectual property and confidential data, and coordinating with external counsel when necessary.

Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to MyDIGITAL Corporation in carrying out its mandate, programmes, partnerships and organisational activities. This includes drafting and reviewing agreements and other legal documents, advising on applicable legal and regulatory requirements and safeguarding the organisation's rights and interests, including intellectual property, confidential information and data. Reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, the Executive will advise internal departments on legal matters arising from their activities, recommend practical solutions and support the resolution of legal issues. The role covers intellectual property ownership, protection and licensing, collaborations, procurement, employment and other legal matters relevant to the organisation, with external legal counsel engaged where necessary.
Key responsibilities
Provide practical legal advice to the Director of Corporate Services and internal departments on the organisation's programmes, partnerships and operational matters
Conduct legal research, advise on applicable requirements and recommend solutions to protect the organisation's interests and support its mandate
Draft, review and amend contracts, memorandum of understanding, collaboration agreements and other legal documents
Support negotiations and advise on contractual terms, obligations and legal implications, including amendments, renewals and termination
Coordinate the approval and execution of legal documents and maintain proper legal records
Advise on intellectual property ownership, protection, licensing and use, including materials and outputs developed through programmes, partnerships and commissioned work
Review arrangements involving third-party materials, confidential information and data sharing, and recommend appropriate legal safeguards
Support the Director of Corporate Services by providing legal input on compliance and governance matters
Assist in managing complaints, claims, contractual disagreements and other legal issues and recommend appropriate responses
Highlight relevant legal and regulatory developments to the Director of Corporate Services and assist with follow-up actions as required.
Coordinate with the Executive, Governance and Integrity, Company Secretary and relevant stakeholders on legal matters as directed.
Assist in managing complaints, claims, contractual disagreements and other legal issues and recommend appropriate responses.
Coordinate with external legal counsel where required and monitor the progress, deadlines and costs of referred matters.
Identify legal risks arising from the organisation’s activities and recommend practical safeguards, with additional risk advice provided when required.
Report significant issues and ongoing legal matters to the Director of Corporate Services and undertake other relevant duties as assigned.
Perform any other duties, responsibilities or special assignments as may be determined by the Director of Corporate Services or Management from time to time.
About you
Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or an equivalent recognised legal qualification
Minimum of two years of relevant experience in legal practice
Experience in drafting and reviewing agreements and other legal documents, conducting legal research and providing practical legal advice
Sound knowledge of contract law and working knowledge of intellectual property, employment law, confidentiality, data protection and corporate legal requirements
Understanding of legal matters relating to programmes, partnerships, procurement and governance, with the ability to identify legal risks and recommend appropriate safeguards
Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement and attention to detail
Proactive and organised, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
High standards of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
