Job summary

Hanson Building Materials Malaysia Sdn Bhd seeks a dedicated ESG Engineer to lead health, safety and environmental programs across its operations in Subang Jaya. The role emphasizes developing, implementing and maintaining ESG strategies, auditing compliance, and driving responsible corporate governance.

You will collaborate with operations and management to embed safety and sustainability across business units, ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in ESG performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional CSP, CEP, or equivalent Malaysian qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in health, safety, and environmental management within mining, resources, energy, or construction materials sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian occupational health and safety legislation including the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and environmental regulations.
• Proven experience developing and implementing health and safety management systems (ISO 45001 or similar).
• Demonstrated expertise in environmental management systems, sustainability reporting, and CSR initiatives.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with capability to conduct risk assessments and investigations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
• Preferred experience in building materials, quarrying, or cement manufacturing industries.

Responsibilities

• Check compliance with legislation, policies, standards, and directives on ESG and H&S.
• Collect, analyse and communicate ESG data via Group Susman platform.
• Maintain reporting and recordkeeping procedures for ESG.
• Organise and participate in H&S and ESG audits.
• Conduct regular plant ESG inspections.
• Perform accidents/incidents investigations and analyse ESG information.
• Advise line management on ESG issues and sharing of ESG information.
• Facilitate development and maintenance of ESG management systems.
• Develop, coordinate, maintain and measure H&S programs.
• Oversee or coordinate ESG training as required.
• Carry out pre-commissioning and post audits of ESG-related capital expenditures.
• Ensure compliance through group guidelines, trainings, and monitoring.
• Proactively manage employees to improve ESG performance.
