Job summary

ORYX ADVANCED MATERIALS Sdn Bhd, a leading US‑based materials manufacturer, is recruiting for an engineer to maintain and troubleshoot a range of electro‑mechanical equipment in our Penang facility. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, daily checks, and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma/Certificate in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Mechatronics and has 2–3 years of relevant experience with vacuum systems and temperature control.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering.
• 2-3 years of working experience in equipment maintenance.
• Experience with vacuum pumps, vacuum oven, dust collector and related equipment.
• Experience in electrical troubleshooting and rewiring of new units.
• Familiar with thermocouples, temperature measurement, SSR/SCR units, heating elements, ovens and melting systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify and perform daily maintenance activities on equipment and carry out improvement projects to reduce downtime and enhance safety.
• Ensure daily checklists and preventive maintenance checksheets are properly recorded and performed.
• Liaise with contractors/vendors to ensure installation works meet contract requirements and specifications.
• Monitor vendors engaged in maintenance services (cooling tower, argon gas farm, dust collector system) and report deviations to maintenance engineer/equipment manager.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, consumables and spares are stored, cleaned and handled on a first‑in first‑out basis; maintain a neat work area and follow safety rules.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO45001 requirements and activities.

Job description

Diploma/Certificate in Electrical (Chargeman, Wireman PW1, PW2, PW3, PW4)/Electronics/Microelectronics/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, Pneumatic or equivalent

2-3 years working experiences in equipment and preventive maintenance

Experienced with vacuum pumps, vacuum oven, hot plate heater, dust collector unit and equipment

Experienced in electrical troubleshooting work and rewiring new unit

Experienced in maintaining a wide variety of electro-mechanical equipment

Familiar with thermocouples and temperature measurement, SSR, SCR unit, heating element, oven and melting system

Responsibilities:

To identify and perform all daily maintenance activities equipments and carry out improvement projects in order to reduce downtime & to achieve good safety practised for the equipment operation

To ensure all daily checklist and preventive maintenance checksheets are in proper recorded and performed in accordingly

To liaise with contractors/vendors to ensure contractor/vendor are well understand on the installation works requirement and specification accordingly to the contract agreement as provided by immediate superior.

To monitor the work of vendors specialized engaging in maintenance service works, such as maintenance service works in cooling tower, argon gas farm, dust collector system & other service work by vendors, and require reporting any deviation to maintenance engineer/equipment manager for further action

To ensure all tools, equipment, consumable items and spare parts are properly stored, cleaned and handle based on first-in first -out basis. Maintain neat work area and follow safety rules

To assist on the implementation and maintaining all ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO45001 requirements and activities accordingly to the standard operating procedures and company policy/objective
