Job summary

Flex is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support our Batu Kawan operations in Penang. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain diverse equipment, collaborating with engineers and technicians to ensure precision and uptime.

The role involves preventive maintenance, calibration, and potential travel to other Flex sites or vendors. Bachelor degree and 5 years of equivalent experience are typically required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor degree in related field and 5 years of equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.
• Repa irs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors’ locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

What a typical day looks like:

• Allocating work to a team of fitters.
• Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.
• Fitting new parts.
• Carrying out quality inspections
• Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.
• Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.
• Keeping production managers informed of progress.
• Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.
• Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.
