Job summary

Flextronics Technology (Penang) Sdn Bhd in Batu Kawan, Penang is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support our manufacturing teams. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain production equipment to ensure peak performance.

Typical duties include preventive maintenance, installation/removal of process equipment, calibrations, and coordinating with fitters; travel to other Flex sites or vendors may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a related field with 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.
• Willingness to travel to Flex sites or vendor locations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and isolate failure mechanisms.
• Perform preventive maintenance at scheduled intervals.
• Calibrate and re-qualify equipment as scheduled.
• Assist with installation and removal of process equipment.
• Prepare corrective action reports and log issues daily.
• Allocate work to fitters and ensure 24-hour cover if needed.

Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to addEquipment Engineerlocated inBatu Kawan, Penang.

What a typical day looks like:

Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.

Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.

Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.

Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.

Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.

Researches and implements corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.

Records times and problems in equipment logs.

Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.

Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.

Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.

Aligns repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry.

Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.

Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.

May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors’ locations.

Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Specialized Job:

Allocating work to a team of fitters.

Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.

Fitting new parts.

Carrying out quality inspections

Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.

Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.

Keeping production managers informed of progress.

Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.

Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.
