Job summary

Flex, a leading global manufacturer, seeks an Automation Equipment Engineer in Prai/Batu Kawan, Penang to support high‑precision manufacturing. You will troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain complex automation equipment across multiple lines, working closely with process engineers and technicians.

The role involves preventive maintenance, data logging, and ensuring instruments stay within specification. You may travel to other Flex sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a related field with 5+ years' equivalent experience.
• Experience repairing and calibrating automation equipment.
• Familiar with preventive maintenance and equipment documentation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and isolate failure mechanisms.
• Perform cost-effective repairs on automation equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance at scheduled intervals.
• Calibrate equipment and conduct re-qualifications as needed.
• Assist engineers with installation and removal of process equipment.
• Maintain equipment logs and report daily activity.
• Support 24-hour coverage and coordinate with teams.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to addAutomation Equipment Engineerlocated inPrai/Batu Kawan, Penang.

What a typical day looks like:

• Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.
• Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Researches and implements corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors' locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Specialized Job:

• Allocating work to a team of fitters.
• Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.
• Fitting new parts.
• Carrying out quality inspections
• Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.
• Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.
• Keeping production managers informed of progress.
• Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.
• Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor degree in related field and 5 years of equivalent experience
