Job summary

Flex is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Engineer based in Prai, Penang to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment across production lines. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, calibration and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of testing and manufacturing assets.

You will collaborate with process engineers and technicians, document maintenance activities, and support installation/removal of equipment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an associate degree in a related field or military technical training.
• Minimum 5 years of related maintenance experience.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots machine malfunctions and isolates the failure.
• Repairs failures cost-effectively and performs preventive maintenance.
• Calibrates and re-qualifies equipment per schedule.
• Assists with installation and removal of process equipment.
• Maintains equipment logs and reports daily activity.
• May travel to other Flex sites or vendors.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Equipment Maintenance Engineer located in Prai, Penang.

Mechanical: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems and production machines and equipment.

Electrical: Maintains and troubleshoots in-circuit and functional testers, associated test fixtures, stress chambers and chamber racks to ensure manufacturing test equipment is on-line.

What a typical day looks like:

• Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.
• Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Researches and implements corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors' locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Specialized Job:

• Allocating work to a team of fitters.
• Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.
• Fitting new parts.
• Carrying out quality inspections.
• Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.
• Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.
• Keeping production managers informed of progress.
• Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.
• Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires an associate degree in related field, military technical training or equivalent education and training.
• Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
