Job summary

Flextronics Technology (Penang) Sdn Bhd is seeking an Equipment Engineer to join our team in Batu Kawan, Penang. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain process equipment, support installation and testing, and ensure precision and reliability of instruments and systems on-site.

The role involves working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic systems, possible travel to other Flex sites or vendors, and involvement in 24/7 coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor degree in related field and 5 years of equivalent experience.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots machine malfunctions and isolates failure mechanisms.
• Repairs failure mechanisms cost-effectively.
• Performs preventive maintenance at scheduled intervals.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment.
• Assists with installation and removal of process equipment.
• Implements corrective action reports and process tracking.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning updates.
• Sets up lab equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate instruments.
• Disassembles equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns repairs and balances components and circuitry.
• Assists engineers in developing test and calibration plans.
• May travel to other Flex sites or vendors.
• Highest level may perform software and hardware maintenance.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to addEquipment Engineerlocated inBatu Kawan, Penang.

What a typical day looks like:

• Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.
• Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Researches and implements corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors’ locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Specialized Job:

• Allocating work to a team of fitters.
• Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.
• Fitting new parts.
• Carrying out quality inspections
• Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.
• Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.
• Keeping production managers informed of progress.
• Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.
• Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.
