Global Rail is seeking an Environmental Officer/Engineer to support environmental management across railway projects and offices in Malaysia. The role focuses on compliance, monitoring, EMP implementation and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, guidelines and project requirements.
  • Conduct regular environmental inspections and monitoring at project sites, offices and other relevant work areas.
  • Support the implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and environmental procedures.
  • Monitor activities relating to scheduled waste, general waste, wastewater, pollution control, air quality, noise and other environmental aspects.
  • Manage and maintain proper records and documentation for scheduled waste and environmental activities.
  • Coordinate scheduled waste management, including proper storage, labelling, handling, disposal and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare environmental reports, inspection reports, monitoring records and other required documentation.
  • Assist in identifying environmental risks and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct environmental awareness and briefing sessions for employees, workers and project personnel where required.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants and relevant authorities on environmental matters.

We are looking for a responsible and proactive Environmental Officer / Engineer to support environmental management, compliance and sustainability activities across our railway projects and office operations.

Key responsibilities

Requirement

Degree/Diploma in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines.

CEPSWAM (Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management) certification will be highly preferred.

Experience in environmental management, scheduled waste management, environmental monitoring or regulatory compliance.

Familiarity with Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia requirements and applicable environmental regulations.

Experience in railway, construction, infrastructure, engineering or other large-scale projects is an added advantage.

Good knowledge of scheduled waste handling, storage, documentation and disposal requirements.

Able to prepare reports, maintain documentation and communicate effectively with internal and external parties.

Good problem-solving, organisational and coordination skills.

Able to work independently as well as with multidisciplinary project teams.

Willing to travel to project sites when required.
