Job summary

Private Advertiser in Penang seeks an Environmental Officer to liaise with local authorities, advise on improvements, and monitor compliance with the Environmental Quality Act. You will lead site inspections, organize environmental meetings, and coordinate with regulators during enforcement visits.

You will manage an environmental team, supervise field activities, maintain records and checklists, and deliver training and toolbox talks.

Qualifications

• Good communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct environmental awareness training and toolbox briefings.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with local authority / regulatory on matters pertaining to environment.
• Advise or propose to the management in environmental improvements, preventive or corrective actions for environmental control measures.
• Highlight any non-compliance issues including operational activities or facility design to avoid any violation of the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) to the top management.
• Carry out site inspection and organize environmental meeting at work site.
• Handle enforcement visits by Local Authorities such as DOE.
• Conduct training related to environmental mattes or required by EIA
• Liaise with respective vendor or supplier for all environmental related matters
• Conduct inspections and audits as required by the environmental guideline.
• Carry out competent person responsibility and ensure good performance monitoring practice as per DOE requirements.
• Manage all the environmental monitoring record and maintain checklist verification on site.
• Supervise environmental activities and lead the environmental discussion.
• Manage Environmental team and handle task distribution among the technician.
• Any other duties assigned by superior pertaining Environmental matters.

Job requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or any other relevant field.

Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience in environmental management.

Experience in environmental site inspections, monitoring, audits, incident investigation, waste management, documentation, and regulatory reporting will be an added advantage.

Good communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to conduct environmental awareness training and toolbox briefings.

Able to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, local authorities, and relevant regulatory agencies.

Willing to work in Bukit Minyak, Penang.
