Ohm in Malaysia seeks an Officer responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations. The role involves developing Environmental Management Plans and conducting site inspections to identify risks and implement control measures.
Qualified candidates should hold a relevant degree and certifications like CePEOEIA. A minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental management, especially in construction, is preferred. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential for this position.
Ensure compliance with Malaysian environmental laws, regulations and standards (e.g. Environmental Quality Act, local DOE requirements, ISO 14001 etc.).
Develop, implement and monitor Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and Environmental Management System (EMS) at project / site level.
Conduct site inspections, audits, environmental monitoring (air, water, soil, noise, vibration, etc.) to check for compliance and identify environmental risks.
Oversee any environmental control measures (erosion & sediment control, pollution prevention, waste management, effluent treatment) and ensure their proper implementation.
Maintain records, prepare and submit reports to management, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders – including periodic environmental performance reports and incident / non‑compliance reports.
Liaise with relevant authorities (e.g. DOE, local council), consultants, contractors, and internal teams on environmental matters.
Conduct environmental risk assessments, propose mitigation strategies, and follow up corrective or preventive actions when environmental issues are identified.
Conduct environmental inductions / awareness training / environmental meetings for site personnel to ensure everyone knows environmental obligations and best practices.
Handle regulatory inspections/enforcement visits, ensure permits/licenses are up to date, respond to observations / non‑compliances (NCRs) and implement rectification actions.
Ensure site facilities, operations, and equipment are managed to prevent leaks, spills, contamination, or other environmental health hazards.
Bachelor of Degree in one of related fields such as Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, Natural Resources Management, or a related discipline.
Certified Professional Environmental Officer in EIA project development (CePEOEIA) / Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control Certified (CISEC) / Certified Environmental Professional for Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM).
Certified Erosion, Sediment & Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI) is also preferred.
3 years of well experience in this relevant field is preferred.
Construction industry experience is an added advantage.
