Job summary

New Zealand Food Industry Sdn Bhd is seeking a Safety & Environmental officer to develop, implement, and maintain the company's SHE policies, and to ensure company-wide understanding and adherence.

This role involves inspections, incident investigations, training, liaising with DOSH and related bodies, and continuous improvement of safety practices. Fresh graduates welcome; PW2/PW4 certificates a plus; knowledge of solar PV beneficial.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of relevant working experience.
• Fresh graduates welcome; internship in SHE is advantageous.
• Knowledge of solar PV systems is a bonus.
• PW2/PW4 certificate is an added advantage.
• Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the company's Safety and Environmental policy & procedures.
• Ensure safety policies are communicated and understood by all employees.
• Establish and maintain environment, safety & health documentation.
• Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
• Coordinate, develop, establish, implement, review, improve and update constantly department HIRARC.
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe practice, and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with PPE, machinery safety, chemical handling, emergency procedures and other safety requirements.
• Oversee the renewal and maintenance of fire extinguisher and firefighting equipment.
• Organize safety training and safety awareness programmes.
• Monitor the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
• Liase with local authorities such as DOSH, DOE, BOMBA and other related bodies.
• To perform any other tasks or assignments as directed by the management from time to time.
