Job summary

Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (Bintulu Downstream) in Malaysia seeks a Safety, Health & Environment professional based in Bintulu Refinery to oversee workplace safety, conduct risk assessments, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will coordinate training, respond to emergencies, and liaise with authorities as needed.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Diploma in a related field, DOSH SHO certification, and 3+ years in safety/ENV roles within manufacturing settings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect workplace to determine risks from machinery, equipment, substances or manual labour.
• Maintain firefighting facilities, alarm systems and first aid facilities in the workplace.
• Investigate accidents or injuries that occur in the workplace.
• Prepare occupational risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
• Monitor the effectiveness of control measures.
• Ensure compliance and promote safe conduct of work.
• Train staff and visitors on HSE requirements and emergency response.
• Communicate with local authorities (e.g., DOSH, BOMBA) on safety matters.
• Based in Bintulu Refinery and perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in related field

Job description

To inspect the workplace as to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliance or process or any description of manual labour used in workplace, is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work.

To maintain all firefighting facilities, alarm system and first aid facilities in workplaces.

To investigate any accidents or injuries that occurred in the workplace.

Preparation of occupational risk assessment and safe operating procedure.

Monitoring the effectiveness of control measures.

To ensure compliance and to promote safe conduct of work.

Responsible to train the required personnel to be ready and respond during emergency situations under HSE.

Ensure compliance of staffs and visitors with company HSE procedures and policies.

Carry out training and briefing to staffs and visitors on HSE related matters.

To communicate with local authorities such as DOSH, BOMBA on safety, inspection, training etc related matter.

To perform other task as assigned from time to time.

Requirement:

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in related field;

Valid DOSH Registered SHO (Green Book).

3 or more years of working experience in Safety, Health & Environment related functions & system management.

FAMILIAR with OSHA requirements and knowledgeable in safety practices

Can work independently and enforce compliance of regulatory requirement.

Possess positive attitude, discipline, good interpersonal skills and systematic.

Experience in Manufacturing environment will be added as advantage.
