The Environmental Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing all activities related to plant maintenance and environmental compliance in manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring proper operation of wastewater treatment systems, handling of scheduled waste, and maintaining equipment and infrastructure to ensure smooth production processes. The role requires a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge in both environmental management and plant maintenance operations.
Job Description
Supervise the operation and maintenance of the Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS).
Ensure effluent discharge complies with the limits set under the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009.
Oversee sampling and laboratory testing of effluent for key parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TSS, etc.
Treat and monitor any wastage generated from processing line by priorities the cost saving plan.
Investigate and resolve non-compliance issues or system malfunctions in a timely manner.
Develop and implement a Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for all machinery, utilities, and critical systems.
Prepare and submit relevant reports and monitoring data to the Department of Environment (DOE).

3. Small Sewage Treatment System (SSTS):
Monitoring the maintenance of Small Sewage Treatment System (SSTS) in accordance with Department of Environment (DOE) and Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) guidelines.
Monitor system performance to ensure compliance with sewage discharge standards.
Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, and maintenance to prevent malfunctions or blockages.
Collect and analyse samples to monitor key parameters and overall treatment efficiency.
Maintain logbooks and prepare reports on system performance and maintenance activities.
Develop and manage programs for the recycling of materials such as paper, plastics, metals, and packaging waste.
Coordinate with certified recycling vendors for collection, handling, and reporting.
Maintain accurate records of recyclable waste generation, segregation, and disposal or recovery.
Educate employees on waste segregation and recycling practices to promote a recycling culture.
Support waste reduction and sustainability targets in line with corporate and environmental objectives.
