Prinx Tire (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Wastewater Compliance Engineer to ensure DOE regulatory adherence for the plant-wide wastewater system.
You will monitor water quality, manage third-party testing, and prepare environmental reports in MyPremis, while maintaining regulatory documentation and coordinating with authorities and laboratories. You will operate daily wastewater treatment units, adjust dosing and aeration, and drive cost-reduction through process upgrades and SOP development.

This position is established in accordance with the regulations of the Malaysian Department of Environment (DOE) and is primarily responsible for ensuring the compliant operation of the plant-wide wastewater treatment system. Through effective control of wastewater treatment processes, water quality compliance, equipment maintenance, regulatory reporting, and environmental risk management, the role ensures long-term compliance and stable wastewater discharge performance. The position also focuses on optimizing wastewater treatment costs, implementing water-saving improvement projects, and ensuring compliant sludge management to mitigate regulatory risks, avoid environmental violations, and support safe, sustainable, and environmentally compliant manufacturing operations.
Ensure full compliance with Malaysian DOE wastewater discharge regulations and standards, manage plant-wide wastewater compliance activities, conduct routine water quality monitoring and self-testing, coordinate annual third-party wastewater testing, prepare and submit environmental reports through the MyPremis system, maintain wastewater discharge records and regulatory documentation, support DOE inspections and audits, and implement corrective actions to achieve zero wastewater discharge violations, zero regulatory penalties, and zero overdue submissions.
Take full responsibility for the daily operation of wastewater treatment facilities including pretreatment systems, biological treatment systems, sedimentation systems, and advanced treatment systems.
Adjust process parameters such as chemical dosing, aeration, and sludge return flow based on production wastewater loading.
Maintain stable control of key wastewater parameters including COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), and Ammonia Nitrogen (NH₃-N).
Monitor water quality continuously, investigate abnormal conditions, and implement corrective actions promptly to ensure continuous and stable wastewater treatment performance.
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, blowers, chemical dosing systems, filter presses, and pipelines.
Establish and maintain equipment maintenance records, chemical consumption records, and sludge disposal records.
Optimize chemical dosing strategies and equipment operating modes to reduce energy consumption, chemical consumption, and sludge disposal costs.
Conduct routine inspections to identify environmental risks related to wastewater overflow, pipeline leakage, chemical storage, and sludge storage and handling, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked to closure.
Lead water conservation, water reuse, and process optimization projects, develop and maintain wastewater SOPs and emergency response plans, and support ISO 14001 internal and external audits and EHS inspections.
0–3 years of experience
CEPIETSO-BP certification (CEPIETSO-PCP certification will be an added advantage)
Strong knowledge of Malaysian Environmental Quality Act 1974 (EQA 1974), DOE wastewater discharge standards, Indah Water sewerage discharge requirements, and MyPremis reporting system
Thorough understanding of wastewater treatment technologies including coagulation and sedimentation, activated sludge (A/O process), anaerobic and aerobic treatment systems, and sludge dewatering processes
Knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment design and operating principles, common equipment failure mechanisms and troubleshooting methods, and sludge management regulations and scheduled waste requirements
Basic knowledge of water quality testing and laboratory analysis, ability to identify environmental risks and compliance issues, and familiarity with high-organic-content wastewater characteristics and treatment challenges within the rubber manufacturing industry
Ability to independently operate and optimize wastewater treatment processes and capable of troubleshooting and resolving wastewater quality exceedances, treatment process abnormalities, and equipment failures
Proficient in using the MyPremis reporting system, able to prepare environmental reports and compliance records independently, and experienced in coordinating with DOE authorities, third-party laboratories, and regulatory auditors
Capable of leading wastewater treatment improvement projects focused on process optimization, water conservation, and cost reduction, and proficient in Microsoft Office and other software tools for data analysis, trend monitoring, reporting, and documentation management
Detail-oriented, responsible, and highly committed to compliance with strong awareness of environmental risks and regulatory requirements, able to identify water quality and equipment abnormalities promptly, excellent execution capability with a proactive approach to problem-solving, good communication and coordination skills with production, maintenance, and EHS teams, and able to work effectively under pressure and respond to wastewater exceedance incidents, equipment breakdowns, and regulatory inspections and audits
