Job summary

Qualifications

• Environmental Officer role overseeing plant maintenance and environmental compliance in a manufacturing facility.
• Proactive leader with strong technical knowledge in environmental management and maintenance operations.
• Experience with wastewater treatment and scheduled waste handling is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operation and maintenance of Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS).
• Ensure effluent discharge complies with Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009.
• Oversee sampling and lab testing of effluent for parameters like pH, BOD, COD, TSS.
• Manage waste from processing lines with priority on cost savings.
• Investigate and resolve non-compliance issues or system malfunctions.
• Develop and implement a Preventive Maintenance program for machinery and critical systems.
• Prepare and submit reports to the Department of Environment (DOE).
• Scheduled Waste (CePSWaM) handling: labeling, storage, disposal; maintain records in eSWIS; coordinate with contractors; audits and training.
• SSTS monitoring per DOE and IWK guidelines; inspections, maintenance, logging, and reporting.
• Lead recycling programs and educate staff on waste segregation and sustainability targets.
• Support OSH activities in compliance with DOSH/JKKP requirements.
