Job summary

IPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd, Nusajaya, Johor, invites applications for an Engineering Assistant to support pre-operational checks, parameter configuration, and preventive maintenance on production lines. The role emphasizes safety, 5S, and accurate maintenance logging.

You will assist in rapid diagnostics, minor repairs, and escalation of major issues to the Engineering/Maintenance team, while maintaining compliant SOP practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up inspections and safety checks on assigned machinery prior to production.
• Set up and calibrate machine settings according to production formulas or work orders.
• Execute routine preventive maintenance per the PM schedule.
• Monitor wear, temperature, pressure and vibration to predict potential failures.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace following 5S standards.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical/electrical/software malfunctions during live production.
• Perform minor repairs to restore operations quickly and minimize downtime.
• Log detailed downtime and maintenance in the CMMS; escalate major issues to Engineering.
• Maintain daily logs of machine performance, setup parameters and downtime causes.
• Follow LOTO procedures and SOPs during all setup and maintenance activities.
• Aim for high PM compliance and first-time-right setup

Job description

Pre-Operational Checks: Perform comprehensive start-up inspections and safety checks on assigned machinery prior to production runs.

Parameter Configuration: Set up, calibrate, and program machine settings according to specific production formulas, blueprints, or work orders.

2. Preventive Maintenance (PM)

Scheduled Servicing: Execute routine preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., lubrication, cleaning, part replacements, and belt adjustments) according to the PM schedule.

Wear & Tear Monitoring: Continuously monitor machine wear-and-tear indicators (temperature, pressure, vibration, unusual noises) to predict and prevent potential failures.

Autonomous Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace around the assigned machinery in line with 5S standards.

3. Troubleshooting & Corrective Action

Rapid Diagnostics: Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, or software malfunctions on the assigned machine during live production.

Minor Repairs: Perform immediate corrective adjustments or minor repairs to restore normal machine operations quickly and minimize downtime.

Escalation & Reporting: Log detailed descriptions of complex equipment failures in the maintenance management system and elevate major issues to the Engineering/Maintenance team.

4. Documentation & Compliance

Logs & Checklists: Maintain accurate daily logs of machine performance, setup parameters, downtime causes, and maintenance activities performed.

Safety Adherence: Strictly follow Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) during all setup and maintenance activities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Machine Downtime: Minimize unplanned downtime on the assigned equipment.

First-Time-Right Setup: Rate of successful machine setups that pass initial quality inspections without requiring readjustments.

PM Compliance: Percentage of scheduled preventive maintenance tasks completed on time.
