We are seeking a highly motivated Engineer - Quality Control (Inspection, Measurement & Test Equipment - IMTE) to oversee the calibration, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of inspection, measurement, and test equipment within the Quality Control function. This role will be responsible for ensuring equipment accuracy, regulatory compliance, preventive maintenance effectiveness, technician competency development, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives through Kaizen and digitalization projects.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in metrology, equipment maintenance, quality systems, and problem-solving methodologies, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, Process Engineering, R&D, Validation & Verification, and Quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. IMTE Management & Calibration Control
Develop and manage calibration schedules to ensure all IMTEs remain accurate, reliable, and compliant with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain calibration records, certificates, and documentation to support internal and external audits.
Evaluate technical requirements and provide recommendations for IMTE procurement and purchase requests.
Coordinate with external vendors to obtain technical support, quotations, and repair services for equipment deviations.
Collaborate with Process Engineering and Quality teams to investigate and resolve equipment-related non-conformances, including out-of-tolerance conditions.
2. Preventive Maintenance Management
Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) programs, including schedules, resources, KPIs, and maintenance objectives.
Create and update maintenance checklists and work instructions for technicians.
Maintain a comprehensive equipment asset register and maintenance database.
Plan and allocate maintenance activities based on task complexity and technician competency levels.
Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and recorded for equipment history and performance tracking.
Monitor PM effectiveness and drive continuous improvements to increase equipment reliability and availability.
3. IMTE Training & Capability Development
Investigate equipment breakdowns and identify root causes to support corrective and preventive actions.
Lead Kaizen initiatives focused on improving equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness.
Develop training materials, troubleshooting guides, and best-practice documentation for IMTE maintenance.
Conduct technical training, workshops, and hands-on coaching sessions for IMTE Technicians.
Review and enhance operation manuals and maintenance procedures based on lessons learned from equipment failures.
Collaborate with Operations, Process Engineering, R&D, Validation & Verification, and Quality teams to improve maintenance strategies.
Monitor post-training performance and assess competency development effectiveness.
Establish feedback and escalation mechanisms to continuously improve training relevance and technician readiness.
Identify, evaluate, and manage risks associated with IMTE operation and maintenance.
Perform risk assessments related to equipment reliability, product quality, and operational safety.
Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize equipment downtime and ensure safe operation.
Support compliance with quality management and regulatory requirements through risk-based decision-making.
5. Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Program Management
Drive Autonomous Maintenance (AM) initiatives that empower equipment users to perform basic maintenance activities.
Develop and standardize AM practices across laboratories and operational areas.
Promote ownership and equipment care culture among users.
Monitor AM effectiveness through performance metrics and continuous improvement activities.
Implement corrective actions and enhancements to improve AM sustainability.
Lead IMTE Technicians in Kaizen projects that improve equipment performance, reliability, and quality outcomes.
Facilitate a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
Drive initiatives involving inspection fixture development, measurement system improvement, automation, and digitalization.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through innovative technology and process optimization.
Support implementation of smart maintenance and data-driven monitoring solutions.
7. The job function listed is not exhaustive and shall also include any responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Requirements:-
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Quality Control, Metrology, Calibration, Equipment Maintenance, Laboratory Operations, or Manufacturing environments.
Experience with Inspection, Measurement and Test Equipment (IMTE) management, calibration activities, and preventive maintenance is preferred.
Knowledge of metrology, calibration systems, and measurement principles.
Familiarity with Measurement System Analysis (MSA), root cause analysis, and quality tools.
Understanding of preventive maintenance and equipment reliability practices.
Experience working with quality management systems and applicable industry standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to lead technicians and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
