TANJUNG MANIS CORPORATION SDN BHD in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Engineer cum QAQC to lead site engineering, QAQC, material management and cross-functional coordination on civil infrastructure projects.
You'll work closely with the Project Manager, QS and Safety Officer, supervise subcontractors, manage NCRs, perform material estimations and ensure compliance with design and QA standards. Travel to project sites will be required.
Hands-On G7 Bumiputera Contractor Involved mainly in Bridge Construction & Infrastructure
Role Overview
The Engineer cum QAQC is a high-impact, multi-functional position designed for an ambitious and highly capable construction professional. This role demands an individual who is willing to be fully hands-on and take deep personal ownership across site engineering, quality assurance (QAQC), material management, and multi-department coordination. Working directly under Construction Management, you will act as the driving force on-site—assisting the Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor (QS), and Safety Officer—while confidently handling client and consultant relations to ensure seamless project delivery.
Comprehensive Site Supervision: Oversee and drive the day-to-day operations of the assigned construction site. Follow up strictly with sub-contractor engineers to ensure all civil, structural, and architectural works are executed perfectly according to design, specifications, and planning.
CPM Scheduling & Tracking: Create, analyze, and manage the master project schedule using the Critical Path Method (CPM). Monitor critical path tasks daily to anticipate bottlenecks, prevent project delays, and propose acceleration strategies.
Inter-Departmental Assistance: Act as the primary bridge on-site to assist the Project Manager in daily coordination, support the Quantity Surveyor (QS) by physically verifying site progress and material usage for monthly claims, and work alongside the Safety Officer to strictly enforce site safety protocols.
Client Relations: Attend and actively participate in project progress meetings. Interface directly with clients, consultants, and authorities to resolve site technical issues, clarify drawing/architectural discrepancies, and present quality inspection reports.
Full-Scale QAQC Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular job site inspections and manage the QAQC lifecycle. Prepare inspection checklists, manage Request for Inspection (RFI) forms, and spearhead quality audits to enforce zero-defect standards.
Defect & NCR Management: Identify site defects, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to sub-contractors, and supervise immediate corrective and preventive actions until closure.
Material Inventory & Estimation: Take ownership of material control. Accurately calculate required quantities for core materials (such as steel, cement, and concrete) from engineering drawings, and audit inbound construction materials against delivery orders.
Claims Verification: Personally conduct site measurements and cross-verify physical work progress to validate extra claims or variation orders (VOs) raised by sub-contractors before management review.
Candidate Requirements
Work Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of heavy, hands-on experience as a Site Engineer, QAQC Engineer, or Project Engineer within the construction sector.
Project Scheduling Expertise: Proficiency in project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6) with a solid understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) logic.
Technical & Software Mastery: Highly proficient in structural analysis and layout applications (2D & 3D software applications), with exceptional blueprint literacy.
Material Estimation Skills: Advanced ability to perform manual calculations for steel, cement, and structural components to minimize material wastage.
Educational Background: Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or other equivalent engineering degree.
Mobility & Flexibility: Have a valid driving license, and total willingness to travel frequently or be deployed to multiple project site locations based on company and project requirements.
