Job Description: Electrical Project Engineer (High-Rise Construction Project)
Position Summary
The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all electrical engineering and installation works for the high-rise project. This role ensures compliance with design specifications, statutory requirements, project schedule, quality standards and safety practices while supporting seamless coordination with consultants, main contractor, subcontractors and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Technical Coordination
Review electrical drawings, specifications and design documents (LV, ELV, ACMV power supply, lightning protection, earthing, etc.).
Coordinate with consultants for technical clarifications (TQ), design changes, material submissions and authority requirements.
Prepare shop drawings, as-built drawings, method statements and installation details.
Ensure all electrical works comply with MS, IEE/IEC standards, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements and local authority approvals.
2. Project Planning & Execution
Plan daily/weekly work activities to meet project schedule and milestones.
Track progress of electrical installation works (cabling, conduits, DBs, switchboards, lighting, power points, etc.).
Coordinate with the main contractor, other trades (C&S, mechanical, ID, architectural) and subcontractors to prevent clashes and rework.
Monitor site manpower allocation and resource planning.
3. Quality Control & Inspection
Coordinate and supervise site inspections to ensure electrical works follow approved drawings and quality standards.
Prepare Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), checklists and perform joint inspections with consultants when required.
Identify and resolve site issues, non-conformance or discrepancies promptly.
4. Procurement & Material Management
Prepare material requisitions, evaluate vendor quotations and support procurement activities.
Ensure timely delivery of materials (cables, trunking, switchgear, lighting fixtures, etc.).
Verify materials delivered to site comply with specifications and approvals.
Plan and execute testing & commissioning (T&C) for all electrical systems such as power distribution, emergency system, lighting, fire-rated cabling, genset integration, lift power supply, Main Switchboard, etc.
Coordinate with T&C teams, consultants and authorities (ST, Bomba, TNB).
Prepare O&M manuals, test reports, training documents and handover deliverables.
6. Safety & Compliance
Ensure all electrical works follow site safety rules, ST regulations and Permit-to-Work requirements.
Participate in safety toolbox meetings and risk assessments (HIRARC, JSA).
Ensure safe installation practices for overhead works, live testing and energized equipment.
7. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare progress reports, QA/QC reports, site records and meeting minutes.
Attend technical meetings, coordination meetings and client meetings.
Maintain proper update of drawing revisions, material logs, T&C logs and site documentation.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 2–5 years experience in electrical installation works (preferably in high‑rise building projects).
Good understanding of LV/ELV systems, HV system, cable routing, electrical room design and local authority standards (ST, TNB, Bomba).
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project (advantage).
Strong coordination, communication and problem‑solving skills.
Additional Advantages
Experience with BIM/Revit coordination.
Knowledge of renewable energy or energy‑efficiency systems.
Familiar with QLASSIC requirements.
Experience with switchboard, transformer, genset and busduct installation.
Other Requirements
Willingness to travel or be based on project sites.
Possess valid CIDB Green Card and own transport.
This role is more on project management / project coordination role (Project Management 70%, Technical / Engineering 30%)
