Job summary

Hume Cement Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Engineer to coordinate daily maintenance activities and ensure timely completion.

You will lead cross-functional teams, supervise utility systems (hoists, lifts, air-conditioning), and ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency, with CMMS EPICOR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance or project management.
• Strong knowledge of plant utility systems including hoists, lifts, and air-conditioning systems.
• Experience with CMMS (EPICOR) is an advantage.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure timely execution of daily electrical and maintenance activities.
• Supervise operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility systems for reliability and safety.
• Monitor and close work orders in EPICOR CMMS.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Prepare maintenance reports and recommend improvements to improve reliability and cost efficiency.
• Provide training to operational staff on instrumentation systems.
• Diagnose and resolve instrumentation-related issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain documentation related to instrumentation drawings, manuals, and records.
• Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
• Coordinate with vendors for maintenance and installation projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors, to ensure the efficient execution and timely completion of daily electrical and maintenance activities.

Supervise the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility systems, including hoists, passenger lifts, and air-conditioning systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with statutory requirements.

Monitor and track daily maintenance activities, ensuring all work orders are completed, documented, and closed promptly in the EPICOR Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies related to electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and improve operational efficiency.

Coordinate with vendors and contractors during maintenance, repair, and installation activities to ensure quality work and timely project completion.

Prepare maintenance reports, monitor equipment performance, and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and cost efficiency.

Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management to support departmental and organizational objectives

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to instrumentation systems, including drawings, manuals, and records of maintenance activities.

Diagnose and resolve instrumentation-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.

Provide training to operational staff on the proper use and maintenance of instrumentation systems.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance or project management, preferably within the cement or heavy manufacturing industry.

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant utility systems, including hoists, passenger lifts, and air-conditioning systems.

Good understanding of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems.

Familiar with applicable safety regulations, statutory requirements, and industry standards in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as EPICOR, is an added advantage.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external contractors.

Able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond effectively to plant maintenance requirements.
