Responsible for leading M&E design development and coordination, ensuring that all design deliverables are technically sound, coordinated, compliant with project requirements, and practical for site implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review M&E design development, IFC drawings, technical specifications, engineering calculations, and equipment schedules to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Review electrical systems (MV/LV, UPS, generators, switchgear and power distribution), mechanical systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC and cooling infrastructure), fire protection, BMS and EPMS.
- Verify system capacity, redundancy configurations, maintainability, and resilience in accordance with approved design criteria and data centre requirements.
- Coordinate M&E design interfaces with civil, structural, architectural, ICT and specialist systems to ensure design integration and eliminate conflicts.
- Lead design coordination using BIM tools, review clash detection reports, and ensure technical conflicts are resolved before site implementation.
- Identify design gaps, assess buildability, and drive value engineering, modularisation and prefabrication opportunities without compromising system performance or reliability.
- Monitor design deliverables, review technical submissions, manage design queries, and ensure consultants and specialist subcontractors meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Manage RFIs, design revisions and technical deviations, assessing their impact on project cost, programme, quality, and system performance.
- Provide technical input for critical equipment selection, long-lead procurement, installation sequencing, testing and commissioning readiness, and final design documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant M&E experience in the construction industry, with substantial exposure to design management, technical design review, or M&E engineering.
- Prior experience in data centre, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical projects is strongly preferred.
