NAVAL ARCH MARINE SDN. BHD. is seeking a design-focused engineer to contribute to the development of ship concepts and detailed drawings. You will work on hull forms, stability analyses and engineering documentation for real marine projects.
The role offers hands-on experience in CFD/FEA, CAD tools and collaboration with shipyards and classifications. Fresh graduates with potential are encouraged to apply and grow in a practical, shipbuilding environment.
Looking for an engineering role where your work goes beyond drawings and calculations?
Join our marine design and engineering team and turn engineering concepts into real vessels. You will gain hands‑on exposure to shipbuilding projects involving ship design, naval architecture, 3D modelling, stability, CFD, FEA, technical coordination and site activities.
This is an opportunity to build practical engineering experience, work alongside experienced professionals and develop your career in the specialised field of marine and ship design.
We welcome experienced candidates as well as fresh graduates with strong technical potential and a willingness to learn.
Prepare ship designs, hull‑form models, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Carry out intact and damage stability calculations, statutory calculations and naval architecture assessments.
Perform or support CFD, FEA and marine/structural engineering analyses.
Develop practical engineering solutions for real marine and shipbuilding challenges.
Liaise with shipyards, shipowners, vendors, flag administrations and classification societies.
Attend site meetings, vessel surveys and inspections when required.
Provide technical support throughout different stages of vessel design and construction.
Assist with engineering coordination and project activities from design development through to implementation.
Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Proficiency in AutoCAD/ZWCAD, Rhinoceros (Rhino) or other relevant engineering design software.
Knowledge of CFD, FEA, stability or marine/structural analysis software is an advantage.
Around 2 years of relevant engineering experience is preferred.
Fresh graduates with relevant qualifications and strong technical potential are also encouraged to apply.
Good analytical and problem‑solving skills with an interest in practical engineering solutions.
Able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining work quality.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Able to work independently, take initiative and continuously develop new technical skills.
Willing to attend site visits, vessel surveys and inspections when required.
This is more than a desk‑based engineering role. You will have the opportunity to:
Work on real vessels and active shipbuilding projects.
See how engineering drawings and calculations are translated into actual vessel construction.
Gain exposure to different stages of ship design, construction and technical approval.
Develop practical experience in CAD, 3D modelling, stability, CFD and FEA.
Work closely with shipyards, shipowners, classification societies and other marine‑industry professionals.
Gain valuable exposure to both office‑based engineering and on‑site technical work.
Strengthen your technical, coordination and project‑management capabilities.
Build specialised knowledge in an engineering field that combines design, analysis and real‑world problem solving.
Take on greater technical responsibility as your skills and experience grow.
For fresh graduates, this is an opportunity to turn what you learned in university into practical engineering experience on real projects.
For experienced engineers, it is an opportunity to broaden your technical exposure and take on more challenging marine‑engineering work.
Successful candidates may be based at either our Sibu or Kuala Lumpur office, depending on operational requirements and mutual agreement.
Note: Candidates who demonstrate strong potential but may not fully meet the experience or technical requirements for the Design Engineer position may be considered for an Assistant Design Engineer role, subject to their qualifications, experience and interview assessment.
