The Junior Engineer will support the Engineering and Service teams in the installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of marine equipment and systems. The role involves both office-based engineering activities and site/shipboard work, with opportunities to work on various marine projects and gain practical experience in marine systems.
Key responsibilities
Assist senior engineers in the installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of marine equipment and systems.
Support the installation and commissioning of electrical, electronic, automation, navigation, communication, and other marine systems as assigned.
Read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, system manuals, and technical documentation.
Assist in conducting inspections, testing, fault finding, and preventive maintenance of equipment.
Identify technical issues and assist senior engineers in determining appropriate corrective actions.
Carry out equipment testing and ensure systems are functioning according to required specifications.
Assist with cable termination, panel connections, equipment installation, and system integration where applicable.
Prepare basic service reports, inspection reports, testing records, and other technical documentation.
Maintain proper records of work carried out, materials used, and equipment status.
Coordinate with senior engineers, technicians, vessel crew, shipyards, suppliers, and customers during project and service activities.
About you
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Marine Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related field.
1-5 years of relevant experience
Basic knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and marine equipment.
Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Willingness to travel and work onboard vessels, shipyards, and customer sites.
Ability to work independently as well as as part of a technical team.
Permanent legal right to work in Malaysia.
