Our client is seeking a Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer / Assistant Manager to join their team!
This is a compelling opportunity for a civil engineering professional to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects on a 2-year renewable contract that offers the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance. What you'll be doing?
- Supporting design management: Assist the Design Manager in managing design consultants' deliverables and submissions, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with project requirements.
- Coordinating design progress: Liaise with design consultants and clients on delivery schedules, monitor and track design progress, and maintain up-to-date design status reports throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing technical interfaces: Assist in coordinating among authorities, design consultants, independent checking engineers, and subcontractors on technical design issues, including mediating and managing comments during design and temporary work submission reviews to ensure timely resolution.
- Providing comprehensive design support: Support the Design Manager across all project-related matters, including design reviews, drawing management, progress report preparation, method statements, work procedures, presentations, and interface coordination.
- Attending project meetings: Actively participate in all relevant project meetings, contributing technical input and ensuring clear communication among all stakeholders involved.
- Delivering engineering solutions: Apply engineering knowledge and creativity to develop practical solutions for design-related challenges arising on the construction site.
- Supporting tender activities: Assist the Design Manager and contract department in tender preparation, quantity take-offs, bill of quantities, and the preparation of reports and presentations as required.
- Contributing to team success: Collaborate and communicate effectively with all team members and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of all design milestones.
Who are they looking for?
- Educational background: A Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification is required as the technical foundation for this role.
- Relevant experience: The level of appointment will be commensurate with experience - a minimum of 2 years is required for a Design Engineer position, 5 years for a Senior Design Engineer position, and 8 years for an Assistant Manager position, all in relevant design and/or construction engineering experience.
- Civil, structural, and geotechnical knowledge: Technical expertise in civil and structural engineering and/or geotechnical design is essential for providing meaningful contributions to complex infrastructure projects.
- Infrastructure project experience: Prior exposure to infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, tunnels, underground structures, metro rail, or railway systems is preferred and will be highly regarded.
- Analytical and problem‑solving ability: Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to problem‑solving are important for navigating the technical complexities of large‑scale design and construction projects.
- Independence and resilience: The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage competing priorities, and deliver high‑quality outputs under tight deadlines is key to succeeding in this role.
