KPJ Healthcare Berhad seeks a Deputy Manager to lead Facilities & Building Maintenance and Safety Services. This role ensures quality, risk, safety and sustainability across the healthcare network, with emphasis on sterile processing and compliant operations.

You will manage preventive and corrective maintenance, monitor contractors, and drive CAPA, RCA and QA activities, while promoting a safety-first culture and continuous improvement across sites.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/degree in engineering, biomedical, healthcare, quality or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years relevant experience in healthcare support services or hospital ops.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/13485, MSQH, and relevant safety regulations.
  • Experience in maintenance planning, infection control, CAPA and RCA.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee facilities, maintenance and utilities in the sterile processing centre.
  • Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance; monitor performance of vendors.
  • Ensure calibration, validation, and compliance schedules are met.
  • Lead risk assessments and ensure infection control and safety requirements.
  • Support quality management system, audits, and CAPA/RCA activities.
  • Drive sustainability, energy efficiency and digitalization initiatives.

Job description

DEPUTY MANAGER, FACILITIES & BUILDING MAINTENANCE/ SAFETY SERVICES

Responsible for managing facilities and maintenance functions, ensuring adherence to quality, risk, safety, and sustainability requirements, and supporting the organization in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant operations.

Facilities & Maintenance Management:

  • Manage overall facility maintenance and utilities within the sterile processing centre.
  • Ensure operational readiness and functionality of:
  • Autoclaves
  • RO water systems
  • Air compressors
  • HVAC systems
  • Temperature & humidity monitoring systems
  • Cleanroom and decontamination infrastructure
  • General building infrastructure
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance (PM) and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Monitor maintenance contractors and service providers performance.
  • Ensure calibration and validation activities are conducted according to schedule.
  • Monitor equipment downtime and implement improvement plans.
  • Ensure statutory inspection and licensing requirements are complied with.

Quality Management:

  • Support implementation and maintenance of Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • ISO 9001
  • ISO 13485
  • MSQH
  • MSSA guidelines
  • Internal SOPs and Work Instructions
  • Participate in investigation of non-conformities, complaints, and rejected sets.
  • Coordinate CAPA, RCA, Fishbone Analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure proper documentation control and record retention.
  • Support internal and external audits.

Risk & Compliance Management:

  • Conduct operational and process risk assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with infection prevention and control requirements.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance related to:
  • Occupational safety
  • DOE / JKKP requirements
  • Monitor incident reporting and corrective actions.
  • Develop mitigation plans for operational risks.

Safety & Environment:

  • Promote workplace safety culture and safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections and hazard identification activities.
  • Monitor PPE compliance and staff safety awareness.
  • Ensure chemical handling and storage compliance.
  • Monitor environmental and waste management practices.

Sustainability & Continuous Improvement:

  • Support sustainability initiatives including:
  • Water conservation
  • Energy efficiency
  • Chemical usage optimization
  • Monitor utility consumption trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in process improvement and operational efficiency projects.
  • Support digitalization and automation initiatives.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture.

Training & Competency

  • Coordinate staff training and competency programs.
  • Ensure competency assessments are conducted according to schedule.
  • Support development of SOPs, WI, and training materials.
  • Conduct awareness sessions related to quality, safety, and compliance.


JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Biomedical, Healthcare, Quality, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in healthcare support services / CSSD / sterile processing / hospital operations preferred.
  • Knowledge in:
  • ISO 9001 / ISO 13485
