Database Administrator (Oracle, MS SQL & Cloud)

We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator to support database operations, performance optimisation, security, and lifecycle management across on-premises and cloud environments. The successful candidate will work closely with application teams and IT stakeholders to ensure database availability, reliability, security, and performance.

Key responsibilities

Support daily database operations by handling incidents and service requests, including database availability, performance issues, database refreshes and copies, user access management, backup, and restoration.

Manage database deployments for application teams by implementing secure, standardised, and performance-optimised database solutions aligned with business requirements.

Perform database installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity management.

Plan and execute database lifecycle management activities to ensure systems remain on supported, secure, and up-to-date versions.

Apply regular security updates, patches, and upgrades in accordance with security policies and compliance requirements.

Identify, assess, and remediate database vulnerabilities according to their severity and business impact.

Manage and support cloud-based database services across Microsoft Azure and AWS environments.

Collaborate with application teams and IT stakeholders using Agile ways of working to align technical objectives with organisational goals.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance database reliability, operational efficiency, and service quality.

About you

Solid foundational knowledge of database administration, including installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, performance tuning, patching, and upgrades.

Hands-on experience with Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience working with Windows and Linux operating systems.

Experience managing cloud-based database services, primarily on Microsoft Azure and AWS, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS for Oracle, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, and Amazon RDS for Microsoft SQL Server.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and customer interaction skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
