Job summary

CMA Solutions Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) on a contract basis based in Subang Jaya, Selangor. You will ensure optimal performance, security and availability of our database systems while supporting data infrastructure and business continuity.

The role requires 2–4 years of DBA experience, strong knowledge of MySQL/Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL, and expertise in backups, DR, tuning and security. Collaboration with development and operations teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional DBA experience.
• Experience with MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or similar platforms.
• Backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures are essential.
• Proficiency in performance tuning and query optimisation.
• Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions is preferred.

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join CMA Solutions Sdn Bhd on a contract basis. This role is based in Subang Jaya, Selangor, and represents a key position within our database administration team. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and availability of our database systems. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the organisation's data infrastructure and enabling business continuity through effective database management.

What you'll be doing

Installing, configuring and maintaining database management systems across multiple platforms and environments

Monitoring database performance and implementing optimisation strategies to ensure system efficiency and reliability

Performing regular backups, recovery operations and disaster recovery testing to ensure data protection and business continuity

Managing database security, including user access controls, authentication protocols and implementing security best practices

Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues and performance problems in a timely manner

Managing database capacity planning and storage requirements to support organisational growth

Creating and maintaining comprehensive database documentation, procedures and operational guidelines

Collaborating with development teams, system administrators and stakeholders to support database requirements and implementation of new systems

Applying patches, updates and upgrades to database systems whilst minimising downtime

Monitoring system logs and implementing proactive measures to prevent potential database failures

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Database Administrator with at least 2-4 years of relevant professional experience

Strong knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or similar platforms

Expertise in database backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures

Proficiency in database performance tuning and query optimisation

Solid understanding of database security principles, user management and access controls

Experience with shell scripting, SQL and other scripting languages for automation tasks

Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions and services is highly desirable

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified or similar database administration certifications are preferred

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
