Phillip Securities in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our technology team. As a full-time DBA, you will manage and optimise our mission-critical database infrastructure to support our operations and growth.

You will work with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, implement high-availability strategies, backups, DR, and assist developers with data design and query tuning, while ensuring data governance and security.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as a Database Administrator, preferably in financial services.
• Solid knowledge of SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with high-availability, disaster recovery, and security solutions.
• Ability to optimize queries, design schemas, and maintain data governance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimise mission-critical database infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related tools.
• Monitor performance and address bottlenecks; plan capacity.
• Perform backups, restorations, and disaster recovery testing.
• Implement replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Support developers with database design and query tuning.
• Maintain documentation for configurations and policies.
• Provide on-call support for production systems as needed.

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our technology team. As a full-time DBA, you will be responsible for the overall management and optimisation of our mission-critical database infrastructure to support the company's operations and growth.

What you'll be doing

• Experience in SQL Server, PostgreSQL Administration for minimum 2 years.
• Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related tools (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or cloud-native DBs).
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks or issues.
• Perform regular database backups, restorations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Implement and maintain database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
• Monitor capacity and plan for growth, ensuring scalability of database systems.
• Apply patches, service packs, and version upgrades while minimizing downtime.
• Support developers with database design, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and policies.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy regulations
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical production systems (if required).

What we're looking for

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in the financial services industry
• Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
• Proficient in database design, performance tuning, and optimisation techniques
• Experience in implementing and managing high-availability, disaster recovery, and security solutions
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and address complex database issues
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for database automation and administration
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
