Job summary

METTLER TOLEDO in Malaysia is seeking a Database Administrator with MS SQL and Oracle experience to join our IT team in Petaling Jaya. The role focuses on SQL Server administration while supporting Oracle environments, ensuring availability, performance, security and reliability of business-critical databases.

You will collaborate with developers, infrastructure and security teams, manage backups and DR, tune queries, and participate in upgrades and on-call support as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of database administration experience.
• Strong hands-on MS SQL Server administration.
• Experience with Oracle databases is desirable.
• Proficient in T-SQL, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
• Experience on Windows Server environments.
• Professional certifications in MS SQL Server or Oracle are advantageous.

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (MS SQL & Oracle) to join our IT team in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. This role is primarily focused on Microsoft SQL Server administration while supporting Oracle database environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of business-critical database systems.

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Administer databases across development, testing, and production environments.
• Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and resource utilization.
• Perform database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
• Manage database security, user access, roles, and permissions.
• Support Oracle database administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and maintenance activities.
• Work closely with developers, infrastructure, and security teams to support business applications.
• Participate in database upgrades, migrations, maintenance activities, and on-call support when required.

What You Need to Succeed

• Minimum 3 years of database administration experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
• Experience supporting Oracle database environments is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, database backup and recovery, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Experience with SQL Server versions 2016, 2017, 2019 or later.
• Knowledge of database security, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with Windows Server environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders.
• Professional certifications in Microsoft SQL Server,
• Azure Database Administration, or Oracle technologies are advantageous.
