Job summary

Oxydata Software in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and optimise critical databases across development and production environments.

You will install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL, ensure security and backups, and support developers with efficient data access. This onsite, permanent role offers exposure to on-premises and cloud infrastructure within a growing financial services tech team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL administration experience.
• Strong performance tuning and optimisation skills.
• Exposure to VMware, Nutanix, or cloud platforms; understanding of virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
• No visa sponsorship available.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or cloud databases).
• Apply patches, service packs, and version upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Perform backups, restoration, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
• Plan capacity and ensure scalability of database systems.
• Implement replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Ensure uptime and reliability of database systems.
• Support developers with database design, query optimisation, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and policies.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards.
• Monitor and manage database access and security controls.
• Provide on-call support for production systems if required.
