• Professional qualification in accounting, finance or related field (ACCA/CA/CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum 3–5 years in cost or management accounting or similar financial role.
• Hospitality or hotel industry cost management experience is desirable.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Excel; advanced data analysis skills.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse all departmental costs (labour, F&B, utilities, operating expenses).
• Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and implement cost control procedures and systems; track and budget accurately.
• Collaborate with department heads to set and monitor budgets within approved limits.
• Conduct audits of invoices and expenses to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud.
• Provide forecasts and financial projections to support planning.

About the role

We are seeking a Cost Controller to join Swiss-Garden International Hotels, Resorts & Inns, a distinguished member of the OSK Group. This is a full-time position based in Kuantan, Pahang. As Cost Controller, you will play a vital role in managing and optimising the cost structure of our hospitality operations. This position is strategically important to our financial performance, as you will be responsible for monitoring, analysing and controlling expenditures across all departments. You will provide critical financial insights that support senior management in making informed business decisions and achieving profitability targets. Your work will directly impact the financial health and operational efficiency of our hotel and resort operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse all departmental costs, including labour, food and beverage, utilities and operational expenses
• Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses, identifying trends and areas for cost optimisation
• Develop and implement cost control procedures and systems to ensure accurate tracking and budgeting
• Collaborate with department heads to establish realistic budgets and monitor compliance with approved budgetary limits
• Investigate cost overruns and provide recommendations for corrective actions
• Maintain accurate records of all cost data and supporting documentation
• Conduct regular audits of invoices and expenses to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud
• Prepare forecasts and financial projections to support strategic planning initiatives
• Liaise with the Finance team to ensure cost information is accurately reflected in financial statements
• Identify opportunities for operational efficiency improvements and cost savings across the hotel and resort
• Experience in a hotel/resort is an added advantage

What we're looking for

• A professional qualification in accounting, finance or a related field (such as ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent)
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in cost accounting, management accounting or a similar financial role
• Proven experience in hospitality or hotel industry cost management is highly desirable
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, budgeting methodologies and financial analysis techniques
• Proficiency in preparing and interpreting financial reports and cost analyses
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous
