Job summary

Sutera Sanctuary Lodges is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in managing the finance function across all properties, ensuring accurate reporting, cost control, and statutory compliance.

You will oversee daily accounting operations, prepare monthly reports, lead close processes, support budgets and cash flow, monitor costs across properties, and supervise the finance team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance; professional qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Hotel, resort, or hospitality finance experience is required.
• Experience with hotel PMS and accounting systems (e.g., Opera, Sun Systems, or similar).
• Strong analytical, reporting, and Excel skills.
• Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Willing to travel to properties, including remote, highland, and island locations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, GL, and income audit.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance analysis for all properties.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
• Support annual budget, forecasts, and cash flow planning.
• Monitor cost control for F&B, inventory, purchasing, and operating expenses.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax and statutory requirements including SST and corporate tax.
• Strengthen internal controls and SOPs, and conduct periodic checks at properties.
• Supervise and develop the finance team, including property-level staff.
• Act for the Financial Controller when required.

About you
