The Contract Manager is responsible for overseeing the full contract lifecycle, including contract preparation, review, negotiation, administration, compliance monitoring, renewal, and termination. The role ensures that all contractual obligations, risks, and legal requirements are properly managed while protecting the company's commercial interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage various contracts, agreements, and amendments.
- Ensure contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, and business objectives.
- Maintain an organized contract repository and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Monitor contract validity, renewal dates, and termination clauses.
- Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Review terms and conditions to safeguard the company's interests.
- Resolve contractual disputes and claims in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, consultants, and legal advisors on contractual matters.
- Provide contract-related guidance and support to management and operational teams.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, HR, Legal, and Project teams to ensure contract compliance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor contract performance and ensure obligations are fulfilled by all parties.
- Support internal and external audits related to contracts and commercial documentation.
- Track key contractual deliverables, milestones, and service levels.
- Prepare contract reports, risk assessments, and management updates.
- Evaluate contractor and supplier performance based on contractual requirements.
- Manage contract variations, claims, and change orders.
- Assist in dispute resolution, negotiations, and settlement discussions.
- Maintain documentation supporting claims, extensions of time, and contractual decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in contract management, procurement, commercial management, or related roles.
- Experience managing commercial contracts, vendor agreements, service agreements, and project contracts.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, property development, or related industries is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of contract law and contract administration.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good knowledge of risk management and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and contract management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
