Job summary

Seri Yakin Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to lead the contract management functions across assigned construction projects. The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating contractual risks, and handling EOT claims and related documentation.

Job description

Senior Contracts Manager is responsible for leading contract management functions of the assigned projects. Ultimately, you will be managing all aspects of contractual matters while ensuring regulatory compliance and mitigating contractual risks.

Key responsibilities

• Review and prepare EOT claim notifications, correspondence and follow-ups with various departments including other contractual claims
• Liaise and support Section Heads as well as team leaders in daily contractual matters, keep latest correspondence and records of EOT and other contractual claims
• Monitor and anticipate issues on time and the cost impact for the projects
• Provide contractual advice or propose/undertake mitigation measures and respond timely to all correspondence
• Review documents and correspondence from clients or consultants and subcontractors pertaining to claims issues
• Identify, evaluate and advice senior management on EOT and contractual claims of Main Contract and Sub-Contracts
• Provide guidance to the team particularly on contract management that will impact the progress of claim process
• Review and verify the content of EOT Internal Assessment Report, Sub-Contract Completion Certificate Internal Assessment Form and other certificates for management's approval
• Assist the Legal Department in the termination/dispute of contract preparation and documentation
• Coach and motivate team members to work efficiently and effectively in achieving team goals or performing team functions

Academic Qualification

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent fields.

Professional Certification / Other Relevant Certification (Preferred)

• Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM),
• Royal Institution of Surveyor Malaysia (RISM),
• Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS),
• The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), or
• The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Working Experiences

• Minimum 15 years of working experience in contractual environment related to construction, engineering and infrastructure works.
• Proven experience as Senior Manager specializing in contract management and contract administration or equivalent.
• Experience in pre- and post-contract administration including assessment of contractual risks, rights and obligations, etc.

Key/Technical Competencies

• Solid knowledge of construction Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and strong contractual knowledge.
• Knowledge of claim and dispute resolution in construction industry.
• Knowledge of all Sub-Contract requirements for both downstream (Subcontractors) and upstream (Clients).
• Well versed in handling contractual and costing matters of construction project.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Accountability: Take responsibility for outcomes (positive or negative) of one’s work; hold self and others accountable for reaching short- and long-term goals.
• Delegation: Define and clearly communicate the parameters of the delegated responsibility, including decision-making authority and any required actions, constraints, or deadlines.
