Job summary

Cisco Systems in Malaysia is seeking a Consulting Engineer to support design and deployment of robust service provider solutions. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, own engagements end-to-end, and shape architectural direction while driving AI and automation integration into Cisco services.

You will work with Cisco's CX team to deliver customer outcomes, requiring strong network expertise, industry certifications (CCNA/CCNP), and fluency in Japanese for Japan-based customers.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years of experience in a similar role as listed in the ad.
• Clear ability to translate technology strategy to engineers and executives.
• Service Provider related certification (CCNA, CCNP).
• Strong knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, STP/RSTP, EVPN, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, QoS, Multicast.

As a Consulting Engineer, you will support the design and deployment of robust Service Provider solutions that drive key business outcomes, acting as a trusted technical advisor to customers. This role is exciting because you'll own complex engagements end-to-end, shape architectural direction for major enterprises, and drive innovation by integrating AI and automation into how Cisco delivers services — all while expanding your influence across teams.

Key responsibilities

• Independently execute deployment, migration, and optimization activities of robust service provider solutions for strategic customers
• Create customer-facing documentation, migration plans, and implementation plans aligned to CX standards
• Build complex test environments to validate designs
• Engage in customer solution discussions — connecting proposed solutions to business priorities

About you

• BS/BE/BTech degree or equivalent with 4-8 years of experience in a similar job role
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to communicate technology strategy and architecture approach to engineers, executives, and Cisco customers
• Service Provider related certification (CCNA, CCNP)
• Knowledge of L2 / L3 networking protocols and technologies (IPv4/IPv6, STP/RSTP, EVPN, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, QoS, Multicast)
• Knowledge of Unified MPLS Architecture
• Knowledge and hands-on experience on NCS540, NCS560, ASR9k, NCS55xx and Cisco 8k platforms
• Knowledge of overlay technologies like MPLS, L2VPN and L3VPN
• Basic knowledge and understanding of Cisco SDN based technologies such as SR-MPLS and SRv6
• Fluency in Japanese to manage and support customers in Japan
• Knowledge of software programmability, automation (Python, GitHub, Ansible, Terraform), orchestration, and/or virtualization technologies
