Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Consulting Engineer to lead strategy, design, and implementation of Data Center and networking solutions, translating customer needs into scalable architectures. You will own end-to-end delivery and work with account teams and partners to drive measurable business outcomes.

This role requires deep networking expertise, DC design experience, and strong collaboration across multi-functional teams. Japanese language fluency is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 8–12 years of customer-facing technical consulting experience.
• Deep knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols (vPC, STP, HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) with Nexus platform experience.
• Lead and drive design, implementation, execution, and/or optimization for projects to accelerate customer outcomes.
• Experience designing and deploying Data Center solutions including VXLAN Fabric and ACI MultiPod/Multisite architectures.
• Partner with customers to design and implement network solutions ensuring integration and proactive service.
• Active Data Center cert such as CCIE or CCNP or equivalent (e.g., VCP).
• Experience integrating network services appliances (firewalls, IPS, load balancers, WAN optimizers) in DC designs.
• Experience in build and reviews of design/High-Level and Low-Level designs and change plans.

Your Impact

As a Consulting Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, leading the strategy, design, and implementation of sophisticated Data Center and networking solutions that directly accelerate business outcomes. You will own end-to-end delivery of high-impact engagements, translating customer business requirements into scalable architectures while influencing technology transitions at the highest levels. Partner with Cisco account teams, partners, and multi-functional collaborators to align solution designs with customer goals, driving measurable success across pre-sales and delivery phases. Act as the primary escalation point for sophisticated problem resolution, demonstrating deep technical expertise to resolve sophisticated issues across a broad range of technologies. Develop and contribute digital intellectual capital, repeatable delivery frameworks, and knowledge-sharing practices that elevate the entire consulting practice.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 8–12 years of relevant experience in customer-facing technical consulting, pre-sales, and/or service delivery roles

• Deep knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols and technologies (vPC, STP, HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) with strong hands-on Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K platform experience

• Lead & drive technology design, implementation, execution, and/or optimization for projects/accounts to accelerate customer outcomes.

• Proven experience in design and deployment of Data Center solutions including traditional DC standalone Nexus design, Cisco VXLAN Fabric and Cisco ACI Fabric solutions using ACI MultiPod /Multisite/Remote Leaf Fabric architectures.

• Partnered with customers to design and implement network solutions, ensuring seamless system integration and proactive service assurance

• Active Data Center certification such as CCIE or CCNP, or equivalent vendor certification (e.g. VCP)

• Experience integrating network services appliances (such as firewalls, IPS, load balancers, WAN optimizers) within Data Center solution designs

• Experience in Build and reviews project work e.g. Design recommendations, High-Level Design, Low-Level Design, Implementation/ Change Management Plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of software programmability, automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform and so on), orchestration, and/or virtualization technologies

• Experience with compute, virtualization, and container environments including Cisco UCS, HyperFlex, VMware, Microsoft, and Kubernetes

• Technical familiarity with multi-cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud from a network integration perspective

• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, with experience leading high-visibility strategic consulting engagements

• Fluency in Japanese is preferred to manage and support our customers in Japan
